Hi peoples, after a few years out of the datto scene, (business commitments, wedding, moving house, two babies) geez its been busy.
Any how because of a couple of minor health reasons, CAMS wont let me race for most of the season so I have decided to build a new hill climber in my “off season” to beat my two mates at collingrove in the under two litre class... I reckon I can do better than them! (it will be a friendly battle). They have a 1600 and a Gemini.
This brings me to my new project. Datsun 1000 two door sedan...
I have been looking for one for a while and collecting a few bits for when I do find one. Well after a short search I found one right under my nose, an old member of this site DOGBOY69 bought said car about 6 years ago and parked it while he went to Darwin for work and now hes back has no intension of doing any thing with it.
Below is a little list of what I have planned:

Paint, the thing is pretty good with only a minor bingle in the rear, so we’ll give it a 20’ paint job (looks good from 20’)

Motor: A10, new rings, bearings, match ported A14 head, Injection (custom) small turbo with intercooler. Electronic ign.

G/box: conversion from 3 speed on column to 4 spped floor

Diff; 4:11 shortened skyline disc , LSD
Front brakes: Custom billet alloy hubs with vented discs

Wheels: 13x8 performance spitfires... maybe little flairs.

In this thread I will endeavour to keep everyone up to date with info and pics of my progress

Well i dug the car out from my mates driveway today and got it down to the workshop... first things first... what do the wheels look like on it.
NOT BAD, they arn't drilled for datsun stud pattern yet so they stick out a bit but the pics show the general story.
It would apear that some one wanted the carby more than we do, just aswell we wont be needing that!

The build begins

Kick butt.
2 Door sedan no less! My favourite thou' for sure.
I've only had one kid in the last 2-3 years, and there's no way I'm getting free time to build a race car!
I'll have to watch your project and pretend like it's me.

Good Luck!

First ever a10 turbo on datsun A series world site!!!!
will love to see this build make the 3 bearing cranker a giant killer!
If inferior mini engines with inferior metalurgy can do it, a datsun
and a datsun freak will do it better.

Good to hear your back mate, and a good choice of weapon as well.
On your flares i think you'll have to get out the clay and fibreglass and make them as i did,and remember you can only extend out 50mm each side from the original profile of the guard(keep the bit you cut off to prove measurement)unless you go sports sedan then you get heaps more.If S/oz is anything like here i'd lean towards IP class 0-1600cc by de stroking a fraction to bring it back to 1600cc converted(x 1x7)with the turbo.
I smell a new lap record in the build.
Cheers
Rob

I dont think he needs to worry about 1600cc multiplication as long
as hes under the 2ltr class which he will be even with 76mm pistons.
Im working on bolt-on alloy flares as its soft easy to work with.
Ive lipped guards carefully with a Shifter then dolly & hammer but
want extra for 8 in Wideys.
