cool finds l18_B110
Also the Ts cup had different classes limited by their engine capacities. So i wonder which class the lz14 beasts ran in. il try and look up the tomei ts cup specs too. The Ts cup 1300cc are my inspiration for the coupe build.I love those 1300cc beasts.

The Nissan Heritage site is great, has some good basic information about all the classic Datsuns.
I am currently collecting all the parts to build a replica of the No. 2 Sunny Excellent pictured above. I have a 1200 coupe shell and the engine, Now I just need to try to find kpb110 front panels, tail lights and dash.
It's going to take a while but hopefully it should be a fun project and very unique and rewarding once finished.

Just a small correct, the KPB110 displacement of 1598cc should read 87.8mm bore with a 66m stroke. Quote: Also the Ts cup had different classes limited by their engine capacities. So i wonder which class the lz14 beasts ran in. There were 2 categories i.e. TS-a and TS-b. TS-a I believe catered for up to 1600cc whereas TS-b catered for the bigger cars e.g. Skyline GT-R, Mazda Savanna RX3 etc. The TS-a class at the time was dominated by the Toyota Celica 1600 GT until the Sunny LZ engine was permitted by the FIA for use in 1973.

I'd be very dubvious of the figures a12grunt posted of more power at much lower revs. Just doesn't stack up. That equates to 109.6lb-ft at peak power - and the peak torque would be higher again. It's simply not realistic to think they found a way to make ~20% more torque than the others. A mistake in the quoted rpm is the most likely problem.

What are the compression ratios? is the TS-SUNNY Race Spec Engine from the 80s? I remember Feral stating his Formula Atlantic A13 made 163hp and some 170hp.
I wonder what a full spec A13 with todays efi, rocker improvements, friction coatings, isotropic finishing, roller cam setup and other technology could make?
There is 775kg vs 638kg for LZ vs A series thats 137kg difference! would that be just the running gear?! donk, suspension, brakes, box and diff?

sigh. So much for having a realistic A series horsepower thread... real world examples of the best full race A series engines from credible sources and people still want to imagine how much more they could make 'if only'...
