Kermit...... Naked froggy. Stripped bare and getting cleaned up

Bought a front panel and valence from 'OLD SKOOL' panels in Thomas town (Melbourne) fits drivers side but not quite on passengers side at the top only .... can fit with a small bend.

Kermit will get some attention once I completely get the ute done. I thought it was a job to get her on the road but it's also a job keeping her on the road

I have had dramas with my ute ... see DEMAC's 1200 UTE thread

Pretty well stripped the engine bay ... back to bare metal. There's paint in the 'hard to get at ' corners etc. I didn't want to use paint stripper but I think I will have to.

Also bought guards from a guy on eBay (in Sale, Vic). Still after a good passenger side rear door, front doors and bonnet will be repo ones to match the repo guards (hopefully)

Also replaced the front beam under the radiator - need to remember the camera next time I go to the back shed

Got a door here, couple of shallow little marks but rust free. Yours if you want it.

Finally remembered to bring the camera.

Firstly the Beam replacement - got one bent up at ta local steel place for $20 - they made it longer so I could cut it to length. Don't forget that if you do this that the bottom part goes back on an angle, so the easiest way was to put it in place and then bend it according to the existing chassis. I used my handy little spot welder and then the mig for extra strength.

There's still a little paint in the really hard to get at places - in the seams between the firewall and the strut towers and under the battery stand.

I have decided to do the engine bay in 2Pack and the rest of the car in the original Acrylic. I figure the engine bay could do with being a harder surface and gloss off the gun while the rest of the car can be a respray over the original ... thoughts???

anyway here's some pics.....the last one is the look I am going for ... others have titles that match their intent. Enjoy

David.

Nice. I'd rather paint in the corners than what most 1200 have.... rust especially in 1200 where seam between firewall and engine bay.
