You are not cruising at 5000 rpm, now are you? With 4.11 gears and 100 kph, you are probably turning 3000 rpm, is that it?

1200 ute 1:1 4th gear, 4.11 diff and assuming 195/50x15 tyres, that's
3800rpm at 100kph
4200rpm at 110kph

3.7diff would make it:
3400rpm @ 100
3800rpm @ 110

No ddgonzal im not cursing at 5000rpm but it seems Tom does. at 5000 im boosting!

Yes i would say 4200rpm at 110km/h is what ive got. So im looking to reduce that to around 3000rpm if possible,to cruse a little smoother.

From your info L18_B110 (thanks mate) it seems if i go 3.7diff with 60 series tyres i might get very close to the mark.

Also to update you all on Dellow prices for the Celica 5 Speed in Australia its $1200 for the box only (Reconditioned) $700 for the bell housing, then they offer the tail shaft yoke, speedo cable, clutch etc all up total of $2950. After that you need to install and make a gearbox crossmember and have the tailshaft made up and balanced. So by the time its done your well over $3000 easy.

D yes when the car was a street car, on several road trips we would drive the car absolutely floored for hours at a time. Do note that these trips usually involved bombing down 2 lane roads late at night. It is not uncommon while driving across the Mojave Desert to not see another car for 100 miles. It may sound like the rods are going to come out of the block but well they don't.

it wouldn't hurt to get a set of steelies and the tallest profile skinny tyres you can find/fit for those long trips, after all we aren't cannonballing it all over the country.
