I wish I knew Afrikaans, but only know a few Dutch words

Here is the cover of the programme for the Zandvoort race 19 May 1975 with Datsun 1200 on the cover!

ports probably used by all these different race teams worldwide

Someone in NZ was building even higher ones above the rocker cover centreline
yet these ones pictured are similar to normal 2 valve volvo sohc heads

Seeing the Janspeed thread, prompted me to remember an article I found last year sometime. Like most notable International Race car drivers, they usually at some point have cut there teeth in a Datsun. Well Tom Wilkinshaw was one of those drivers. Tom was a British driver who was very successful in the 80's and also well known in Australia driving Jaguars and Holden Commodores. notably his TWR XJS 12cyl jags. Those cars used to make the mountain rumble, awesome sound.

Anyway back to Datsun. Tom was the named Driver along with Alec Poole in the Datsun UK /Janspeed Sunny Coupe GX in 1973. Car #19.

Great! Did not know he raced a 1200 early in his career. That page says the white 1200 was sponsored by Datsun UK and Janspeed

9th place at the RAC Tourist Trophy 23.9.1973

Interestingly it is also a 1972 facelift coupe with the updated bonnet and flying S grille emblem

reminds me that B110 was marketed as "Datsun Sunny" in the UK, hence the name across the bonnet. This photo take at Silverstone circuit, England same race as above. Looks like a GX5 coupe with blackout rear panel

Looks like Broadspeed cars were faster than Janspeed :)

Interesting in the 80s the A series in heavier cars
had better results in Japan than the earlier gx5 lighter bodies

Any details on those round ports? They look like false floors with Devcon or so to fill the former open space below.

That's a Pitroad photo showing what they do to TS Cup engines. I believe it is a standard GX oval-port head that's been hogged out to round shape, and raised up with falst floor added
