thanks fellas!!!!!

just got inspired by the comments , and me and me mate just popped the motor and box out, and the flywheel bolts were finger tight

guess that was the problem, it's all reassembled and dropped back in the car, just gotta wire and plumb everything back up tommorow...


...ready for the drags tommorow night!!!!!

flywheels are ground
in a flywheel grinder btw.... :)

the right type of loctite that suits the application is a must also

yes have seen the 'old flywheel come loose trick' myself :)

nah, seriously - glad it wasn't terminal. nothing worse than having just built something and thinking you've just gone and stuffed it by doing something simple - like missing a gear change or forgetting to refill the gearbox with oil or having the speedo cable still hanging and have it catch in the spinning uni joints or...

Not trying to be bossy, but I hope that you replaced the flywheel bolts. I replaced mine with high tensile (12.9) capscrews. It also pays to run a tap into the holes first, and spray them with loctite primer, before blowing them out with compressed air prior to assembly.
I remember when mine came loose, only just got the blower going. Makes a god awful noise.
You can be forgiven for thinking that the motor had lunched itself.
How much longer til the next meet?
