A guy i knows selling a 6pt roll-cage for a 1200 4dr sedan and i want to know if it'll fit in my coupe. if this helps: it is bolted to rear wheel arches, behind seats on floor and on floor in front foot well, my main concern is though the height of the cage as it has a high bar across the top just behind the front seats filling the roof area (about 2cm between roof and cage) only behind the front seats (the rest is a couple of centimeters lower again therefore no concern). Im not sure whether the coupe has a lower roof? in paticular at this point? or is it the same? (i presume the distance from the wheel arch to front feet well will be close enough for cage to fit). i may be able to get some pictures if that might help. thanks for any thoughts

It definitely is lower overall, although I couldn't say about the point you are referring to.

Man I love talking about rollcages. I went through this with a Sedan cage I was given and I thought I could get it to fit one of my race coupes. It took me about 10 mins to see it was a waste of time. The A pillar in the coupe is more angled than the sedan and the B Pillar is further back. You could make it fit but it would look shaggy and be of no use for competition. A cage must be up against the pillars and be welded to them to be effective. Otherwise it is not structurally integrated and when you have an impact the body shell deforms until it hits the cage - and that can have a 'slide hammer' effect as well as messing up your soft tissue. Are you going to race the coupe?

cool thanks, yeah im going to rally it!
i still need cage, seats, harnesses, terratrip and tyres to start competing but mechanically i got all the right bits. the kinf of cage thats welded to the pillars and stuff is ideal i know but there blooming expensive unfortunatly, but yeah it also adds to body stiffness too

yeah its a nice cage and worth buyin, hes advertised it on www.ozdat.com with good pictures aswell, i bought motor gearbox and otherstuff off him and hes pretty good to deal with (cheap too). hes got a whole heap advertised for $950 titled "1200 rally car project" or something like that, hes names s.snooks, itll probably cost ya around $500 for the cage. its in very good condition and although the car its in was rolled i dont think the cage actually was used to any great extent in the roll. my brother was looking at getting a cage from brisbane and apperantly it was only gonna cost around $50 to deliver that, so delivery price shouldnt be so bad. i just wish i could use the bloody thing

unfortunaly it doesnt have much left on it, theres no terratrip or intercom, the only things other than cage are wiring loom and gauges, and a couple of panels and the tyres arn't great from what i saw. When you say you got a quote for cage are you talking about this paticular one from stuart or to get one made somewhere else
