About 2 weeks ago, whilst parked outside my mates place, Some @sshole hit my sedan right at the rear corner portion next to my tail light, luckily, my tailight was saved.{hit & run}.

So now I thinking about getting the whole car resprayed, cause it was due anyway.

I am wanting to change the colour from metalic prussian blue to WHITE.
I am also considering having Blue flames put on the bonnet, fenders sections, and a little just on the front doors.

My question is,
what do you all think {opinions},
Have any of u seen any dattos like these, with the fire designs, If yes, please post pics.

And, is there anyone from SOuth Africa, that can tell me where I can get those wheel arch flare kits, that our aussie neighbours have.

I'm tired of having my datto looking 90%standard, I'm now wanting a more wicked, sporty look.

Id just pick 1 colour u really like or one that stands out rather than have 2 different tones. You may like it at first but down the track you will probably get sick of the look.

yeah im with freak.. stick with the one colour coz the novelty of having flames/decals on your car will probably wear off your mind with time and wishing that you had only chosenone supa-dupa cool colour!!

Theres a Datsun on OzDat which is black and has red/yellow flames on it and it looks ok but the black is pretty ####y... by the way what the hell is wrong with OzDat atm?? 'this site is defaced'? wtf!!

But its really up to you tho, like if you really like the look of the decals then go for it and show it off with pride and you will probably be one of the few datto owners that have dared to do that to their prize possesion!!

Thats my 2c's worth!

Dave

Hi Reeves

We haven't talked in a long time.
Sad to hear about this happening to you. You should be glad that the light was not hit. They are difficult to get these days.

Painting:
Make 100% sure the color change will work. I am not a big fan of color changing a car. Normally you can see in some places on the car that the color has been changed. That is why I kept mine the original color. It puts me off when I inspect a car to discover when I open the bonnet or boot that it has been color changed. I would suggest keep it the same color as before, but just fix all the rust and dents. The car will look way better even if you keep the original color.
Flames on the bonnet and side, I will not do that to a Datsun. Rather keep it old school and original. It will definately catch people's eyes if it has been restored to perfect condition. Believe me mine is.

Flares: I will only put them on if I have big wheels. 12" wheels and flares will look like a Mazda astina with 14" wheels on.
Large arches with small wheels.

Just look at my car with only a new paint job and 13" wheels. What else do I need? Nothing

I'd keep it to one color too. My truck's got flames (previous owner) and I can't wait to get rid of them. If you do them though, try low contrast. I get compliments on mine almost every day and they're just rattle can by the looks of it. Here's some pics:

Try Classic Datsun Motorsports for the flares.

I'm personally not a big fan of flames, but on some cars they look awesome. To me, the flames on 2332owners ute look good and I've seen similar jobs on hot rods and mustangs which really set the cars off nicely. Subtle flame jobs one or two shades darker than the main paint colour are the way to go.

I've seen a ute (not a 1200, but you could copy the paint idea) that was a grey-silver, and had blue "ghost" flames on it. The first few times i looked at it i never saw the flames. you could do something the same with white, just make sure you get the right colour. Also with this idea, don't do the whole flame, just do a flame outline.

just an idea...

yeah i gotta say, ghost flames are the best.
things that don't JUMP out at you are often the best at standing the "fashion" test of time. ghost flames will be in for a while i reckon, whereas striking / contrasting flames are already passe.

remember those checker graphics that used to go on your front quarter panel?
