Ok 18 months ago I started prepping/changing my car so it would be legal for Tarmac rally as well as look good for vintage racing. So after putting back all the road gear I took out in 1990 , installing an H-production head on the GX bottom end , aluminium interior panels , rally computer and a repsray it's done....
The funny thing is I keep walking past it in the garage thinking I should be doing some thing to it - is this what you project hounds call empty nester syndrome???

Rallytwit

I know what you mean.
My car has been finished about a year now.
I am still looking for something to fiddle with on the car. I wanted to put on other side mirrors, but since then decided to keep them old school like they currently are.

Luckily I have two things that I still want to do that will help my itching a bit, replace the two stabilizer arm rubbers that the suspention idiots did like crap and clean my Hitachi SU carbs.
Then I will itch again for something else.

Mmmmmm, maybe put in some racing seats up front.

dude, that is no problem. Buy another project, and work on that!
That's what I'd do. (Thats why I own five cars)

Another project is always a good idea, but for a chalenge, see if you can find a nice example of something plain, like a four door, then restore it. You know, just like it was on the showroom floor. This can be low cost & it keeps the brain working as you need to figure out just what the original part was for that month of production, then find any of the missing bits. New paint, new chrome, white walls, absolutely lovely. Then if you don't want it, sell it at a proffit & start again. Stockers are always easier to move than modifieds.

Don't worry about my driving it , I've raced the car since 1991 and flog the living Cr%P out of it. I've been done so much stuff to it lately that it just seemd weird to "only" drive it.
As for other projects , well the old Volvo 142E needs a respray and I have a Derbi GPR 50 with a ton of trick parts on it , nothing like a 90 mph 50cc bike.
Rallycar: as for my imagination well the USA rally folk would smile and shake their heads - might have something to do with my post about the alien tree creatures attacking a service break or... The press release about russian T-72 spec tank class.... or... after heavy rains at Rim of the World Rally the post on the new Spec Ark class complete with specs for Gopher Wood...or the post about the rally raid sponsored by a TV dinner company and after competitors were served tainted pudding they started halucinating....
