L18-b110 has been down the same road that you are considering. L18 has posted many threads on doing the conversion. Try the search option, im sure something will come up.

I've (with the help of L18) written an article for the tech section on L series conversions, just waiting to get it in there...

If you want it, just supply me with your email...

It's not really easy. Ive spent the last two days fitting an L20 into a 310. Ive had to modify the sump to get clearance on the steering arm. (It rises as the steering goes on lock) As well as lower the top of the Xmember.
An L18 will be easier as the aren't as tall, but it's all FUN and Games.

Hey A14force, did you try using a L16 sump on the L20?

From memory they are slightly different, when we threw a L20 in my mates 1600 we had to use a L16 sump as the L20 sump hit the crossmember.. Just a thought.

The motor came out of a 1600. It had a "midsump". I chaged it for a "frontsump" from an 810. 90% of the hard stuff is done. now it should all be plain sailing. (Yeah right) Well maybe.
