but i have another question what about a deisel turbo ....will that have the correct seal because of the way they are set up.....

a turbo off a diesel engine will be far from ideal on a petrol engine. Diesels tend to have a narrow operating range compared to petrols, and will have turbos built to suit this smaller speed range.

Kegs the oil seals you can only check by running the turbo or unless you strip it. ( but dont strip it)

kegs, you only need a carbon front seal if you are running a suck thru setup where the carb is infront of the compressor, sucking fuel though the turbo and rooting the seal. with a blow through setup, where the turbo blowing through the carbs you do not have this problem. and as you have a fairly modern turbo, if there is no excess shaft play, you should be fine. blow through also allows for a blow off valve and an intercooler to be used as there is no fuel in the inlet path at that stage.

on another hand, i have never seen a blow through setup that utilises twin webbers, or actually i've never seen a blow though setup using side draught webers at all... pressurising a carb often leads to cracks down the fuel bowl

what pointed you towards the twins blow thru setup?

ive just been told that a pusar et e15 turbo is allready set up with carbon seals....so if ur goin draw through...use one of those...make sure u get a good turbo ...aim for no shaft play whatsoeva....after that we ran some solvent through the oil galaery and tipped the turbo upside down....and the solvent leaked out the front seal so we just gave up after that.......

Oil wont wreck your carbies, so dont worry. When carbies are rebuilt, oil is used to lubricate them anyways. Even your PCV puts crankcase gases through the carbie.

Solvent? is way thinner than oil and depending on what the solvent is, I wouldnt even think about putting it through the turbo or even near any seals. Although in your case it sounded like the turbo was flogged anyway

lagwagon, i knew i didnt need a carbon front seal but all turbos have oil seals so i thought that if mine is blown the oil leaking into the front housing may be bad for carbies i spose not... in answer to ur questions, i was pointed in the direction of twin dellorto blow through because of two reasons, i initially was going to supercharge my a15 and bought a delorto for this was going to be used draw through. then i decided to do the same but use turbo.i then thought i may as well get a single sidedraught manifold and do blow throuhg but found out i couldnt get single sidedraught manifold, so i bouight a second dellorto and went twins. haha very confusing.
secondly i saw marcus', (datsun100aturbo)'s setup, which looked very good so i took ideas here and there from him and made my setup much like his. ps if you send a boost signal to the fuel bowls there is no cracking of the bowls coz the pressure is equal u can see how i did this if u look at the pics of the carby side of the airbox in my album.

no offence kegs, but for the money the dellortos cost you, as well as dyno tuning and jets and "boost sealing" them ( such a crappy term for dellortos) you could have fitted a delco by welding camira cold start injector bosses into the inlet manifold, using VL injectors, camira fuel pump (or the whole tank) and an 808 computer from a camira too. all you'd need to fabricate is a fuel rail and new fuel lines (you look like the handy type with that pic) and make sure you get the fuel pressure reg off the camira too.

then you would have had more mapping points than a MoTeC with the driveability of a std vehicle.

horses for course though - still a great setup and it looks the part too.
