im having problems deciding what i wanna do with my datto1000 ute. i will NOT be putting anything else in it but an A14 because thats all im allowed. What sort of HP have people been getting with A14's/A15's? What have u done to achieve this? what parts can i use where and from what? i have a budget of $2500-$3000, i can build this engine myself but please someone tell me what i can do please. the car will not be tubbed out so there is such a thing as too much HP.
can people not tell me to stick in an SR or CA ect.. cause anyone can get good hp from them

Is there any reason that you will not consider a 1200 engine? [they fit the 1000 engine mounts, A14's don't] Why are you allowed nothing larger than an A14?

With the light rear of a 1000 ute, & 195 tyres [thats about the practical limit] you will be able to scare yourself quite sh1*less with a 'built' 1200 or A14 engine anyway. Something like about 80hp at the rear wheels will be achieveable at a quite reasonable cost.
With that, it will run quite nicely. I'm sure thats about what i will be geting from the 1200 engine in my 1000.

years ago had an A14 in a 1000 2door. had around 85-90hp at the wheels. this was with big cam, double valve springs, 1600/510 recut exhaust valves, ported polished A12gx head, flat top pistons gx cast exhaust manifold 2.25" free flowing exhaust. this was all fed by twin su's, which were eventually swapped for a pair of 40mm dellorto carbs. went harder and smoother with the dellortos but never got it onto a dyno.

and i can back up what dodgeman said ..... plenty of times i nearly had to rush home for a change of undies was a great power to weight and with a decent set of brakes to stop it, it was definitely one of the most fun cars i've owned

Not as much as we wanted but we haven't tuned it yet and dropped down to 10:1 comp due to fuel availability

Im running a fully built A14, flat top pistons 10.2:1,highly modified head and inlet manifold. Im using a single webber from a 2lt escort, extractors and 2.5" high flow exhaust. Although not yet dyno'd, my 1200 ute with locked diff can match my mates 13b j port rx4! The A14 is also running 80hp nitrous oxcide, but havent yet had a race.

Its OK Errol...... I just wanted 100hp......wahhhahhaa

Still got to do some tuning as you can see by the AFR.

Basically I just want to get into the car and have some fun driving it.
Big cars tend to hunt me down on the straights though.... more HP is always nice for then.

Oh and I am on broadband... and probably need to change my sig

Neil
