So is South Africa the only place still making the 1200's? Or are they still in production in Portugal or Asia? (Interesting to know where all these aftermarket parts are coming from!!)

Ok you dont get a dirt bike in the back

says who???
you could easy fit a couple of 125's in the back.
ive seen a 1000 ute down my way here who carts a couple of large dirt bikes in the back. you may need the tailgate down for the majority, but they do fit.

Just my 2 bob"s worth, the utes were produced until 85, I had boght a second hand one in 87 with 30ks on the clock what a magic ute and in fantastic condition.
I payed $5500 from Zupps at Mt Gravatt picked up an option one 5 speed from the importers for 300 bucks, fitted wheels and a disc brake front end, I had it for a few years traded in on a Honda city and got 7500 as a trade, they had it on the lot for 9500, did any one on this site buy a white 1200 ute from Southside Toyota in Woolloongabba ??
Also my stepdad sold Datsuns new in the 70"s he told me that the coupes were fully imported and you could order a five speed to be installed when it was being built, from memeory thay are all a Deluxe model.
All the other models I believe were manufactured in Oz

Well as you all know the Ute was taken out of production here in South Africa late in December 2007. The Dealer say there is still enough stock avalible until the middel of 2008. So if you still want a new one, come get it. Pic below was taken at Nissan Welkom in December 2007.

As for the UTE been small, I dont think so. My quad bike fits nicely, tailgate open.

When new the coupe was new it wasn't that cheap and did not sell as well as the RX or 323 Mazda's.

When I brought mine the old man recals how he wanted one in his day and that they were to expensive.

For me they look hot and aint that common. Most people dont know what it is and state "they made a 1200 coupe" It has classic lines and fantastic chrome highlights. Which are set off by her metalic green paint. With a CA under the hood its competition for most cars.

Accept it aint running yet, coz of an electrical gremlin :(
