A few months ago i drove the KB10 (which i rarely do,usually trailered)to the local BP for some ultimate,i put 20ltrs in and go in to pay the woman,who says how gorgeous the little orange car is......it's a VOLVO is'nt it! statement like,after i pick myself up off the floor holding back the tears of laughter,i informed her of it's makers and heritage,well she wont hear of it(she's got to be 40 plus)no it's a VOLVO,never seen a prity Datsun like that before,it's a VOLVO!
I then got her outside on the driveway to examine the badges and rego sticker... suffice to say she was a little red faced for one so learned in the motor industry(her words)but now she has been re educated in what was available in 1969 from Datsun.

I've had a few things said/shouted.

- "Go the Datto from heaps of people."

- "Wanna sell it?"

- "What's it running?" To which I've had to reply "just a A12." Soon I'll have a different answer

- "Don't see many in this condition getting around." From various people who have usually had one or knew someone with one.

- "It's so cute." From my girlfriend's friends.

My brother constantly gets comments about how nice his "1600" is. Only issue is that it's a Fiat 125S........

Does'nt it start to annoy you guys when the people ask if you wanna sell it,etc?
It definately does annoy me.It's almost every second weekend.(My car only see the road over weekends).

Most of the time I make up a rediculous price for the sedan and would you believe me that the people still are keen to buy it.
I would then just have to say "sorry, it's not really for sale".
My wife then just has the most stupidest reply "I cannot believe the guy wants to buy the old thing". By the way, she hates old cars.
On the other side, I am glad other people appreciate all the love and money that went into it. I enjoy the car everytime I turn the key.

Also had a guy working at a petrol station ask if my mate wanted to sell his 1600. My mate replied "Nah dude I just bought it." To which the petrol station guy said, "It's nice, what type of car is it?"

when i had my 120y coupe heaps of people use to always call it a corolla and they where always suprised to find out that it was a 120y haha.

a lot of people dont belive me when i tell them that my 240z is a datsun. I have had a few people ask me if it is a porche i tell them its better than that

I always hear "You don't see many of those on the road ant more". Some say"geez thats in good condish", to which I reply "You should see it in the daylight with your glasses on". It's like looking at an ugly chick through beer goggles. Alright from a distance.

When I get asked if i'm going to do it up I say"mabey but the real project is my 120Y panelvan". I have been told on the odd occasion that 'Your thinking of a corolla mate. Datsun didn't make a 120Y panelvan"

Best one I had was a bloke on a fatboy next to me at the lights in my old Coupe.
" Still got the ridgy didge 1200, mate?"
"Yeah"
... Pats the fuel tank of his bike...
"1340 mate and f*ck you!"

I had a rather good looking girl that I hav never sean again, ask if she could take a photo at a car wash, I dident say no.
