Hewland 5-speed dog box for Datsun 1200, B210 or others with an A-series engine.

This is a Datsun "60" series case from a B210 that was modified to fit 5 Hewland Mark 4-8-9 gears. It belonged to my friend and the original builder, Dan Hall of Portland, Oregon, USA. Dan passed away 3 weeks ago and, at his request and his wife's request, I've been selling a lot of his stuff. [You have seen my ads. Dan's collection of Datsun 1200 and A-series stuff was only rivaled by my own collection...]

This was Dan's first 5-speed Hewland box. All of the parts are here, and I will try to post photos.

It was disassembled a few years ago because the little bearing between the input and main shaft failed. When that happens we turn the shafts and press on a hardened bearing race. The mainshaft was done but the input shaft still needs to me bored and have the sleeve put in. [Sleeve included.] So, only a mechanic or machinist, or access to one, should buy this project.

I will assemble the gearbox for shipping and do an inventory of the little pieces. If it is together I can make sure that all the bolts, washers, and shims are in place. It will be complete, but you will need to repair the input shaft inner bearing surface.

New they were $3500-4000 USD. I'm asking $1000 for this box.

SHIPPING: Air freight will not be cheap. About $500 to Europe, ?? to Australia. But, I can put it in a container going to Melbourne in January. Estimated price for that is only $100 and he can truck frieght from there.

PJZ do you have any downdraft weber manifolds instead of sidedrafts
for the A series oval port head?

Sorry, D, Only have the dual side draft manifolds for oval ports. I don't see many of the downdraft Weber manifolds.

Ian, thanks for posting the photos.

Shipping: If anyone in South Africa, Spain, Portugal, France, Australia or New Zealand has info on container shipping from the US, I would be interested. I would like to be able to sell some larger items like engines, transmissions and body panels and make them reasonably priced. Thanks, Peter

No problem, thank you for the brilliant parts I have got so far!

I will mail you about larger air and container freight to South Africa during the course of the day.

Cheers
