would a 48mm weber be too big for a mildly worked A14 and how much more power would this have over a 32/36 weber ? is it worth the trouble and can i buy a manifold to suit it ?

yes, too big.

remember, a single DCOE on a plenum manifold flows 98% of what twin DCOEs do with individual throttle bores.

44s would be plenty big. 40s are more commonly used for hot street A14s.

My bro had twin 48s on his 2.4 stroked L20B in the late 80s.
So it isn't unreasonable, but you'd be the only person on earth doing it.

Racers run Mini engines on single 48s so not unheard of to run a small 4 on such a set-up. But I'd suggest low down tractability would be rubbish for a street car.

I had twin 45s on an A12 (actually that's the engine in my avatar pic).... you can do it.

Ask Mike about the A10 in Jaypan running the twin 40's. Just choke the bugger down and go.
