Hay all, a while back I posted a thread telling how my temp and fuel gauge where playing up. When ignition was turned on the needles would move a little then go back to nothing. In the picture below is the box on the back of the speedo with 3 wires - red, green and black the voltage regulator. And would this be the cause of my GREMLINS. If so can I source a new one or if there an aftermarket replacement.

AND DOES SOMEONE HAVE A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR THE BACK OF THE DASH SO I KNOW THAT AND WHERE EACH WIRE GOES. Thanks for the help

Is that a voltage stabiliser? I've seen three wires under the dash of my 1200, which don't have anywhere to go.

Could it possibly be a very primitive speed control device, seeing as it's mounted around the speedo cable input?

Isn't that a speed sensor. On my 73 MT it had that for emissions. In TOP gear going more than whatever MPH the distributor would be allowed to advance.

does your car act up at a particular road speed, not rpm?

i had a problem with one of the other systems that happened around 35-40mph, only there and ran fine otherwise.

but since it is on the speedo cable, i'd imagine it's a little generator that makes enough power to activate a solenoid as a particular speed.

damn, we all learn something every day.

Certainly looks like a speed sensor...

It would make good sense that this might be fitted to a auto or 4 speed model, that doesn't have the overdrive switch for changing igniton advance.

I have seen the back of maybe 15 dashes in my time and never seen this either.

Must be a bakkie or very late model 1200 Ute thing.
