When I found my 1200 I was looking for a rwd lightwight car I could stick a big(?) v8 into. It was to be a project for my son and I.
I'm a bike guy and I wanted to keep my kid off the back of my FZR1000. So we started looking for a small car. I found this add for a 71 Datsun 110, had no idea what that was, so I came to this site to check it out.
I'd never seen one before, or didn't remember it anyway. Thought it was a great looking car for 650$, I paied 500$. It was running 20mins after I got it home, it had sat for about 6yrs.
The guy bought it new, gave it to his kid and his boy died, I didn't ask how. He was glad to hear I was going to cut it up and make a hotrod. Just something for me and my kid to ride around in. This car had been in his famliy sence 71, he had tears in his eyes when it was hauled away.
I had no idea what a deal I got. I had to go back and get all the spairs, mostly extra wheels, 4 sets. Half a truck load of parts.
I also didn't know just how rare these things are around hear. As far as I know, it's the only one in the Everett Wa area.
I just love the little beater. I've got it running realy good and drive it every day.
My son thinks it's a real classic and stands around telling everyone what's going to happen to it. He's very sharp when it comes to all the stuff I've built. He's 8yrs old and can't wait till it's done, me either for that matter!
I did have a 81 210 for awhile, best car ever in the snow!
Remember one time driving from Everett to Tacoma ( about 60 miles) from Boeing, the throttle stuck wide open, I must have drove 35 or 40 miles before I pulled off the side of I 5 and fixed it. I laughed the whole time, cuz the car would only do about 75 topped out on flat ground!
