We went with a panel beater mates advice with over 20 years experience in the game. Lincoln 180c gas/gasless i weld datsun steel with it without gas and im convinced it would be even better on gas. Yes there not cheap but they have a warranty and a few mates have got lincolns and they flog them daily with no complaints..

Where abouts are you Zig Zag? EDIT,sorry, just noticed your location.

Grays online has migs come up all the time.

Here is a link to one in NSW.
http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0100-5 ... 156-240v-plug-in-with-wir

Just remember with Graysonline to add GST and the buyers premium to whateva you bid to.

This looks like great value at this stage.

for newbees to welding its simple.... do you want welds that look like bird poo (gasless) or smooth lines (gas)

the gas is NOT cheap though - the bottle rental alone is around $6 per week under a rental agreement

I have a CIG transmig 165TURBO!!!! gas/gasless not as good as the lincoln, but more than enough for anything on a dato, and kan do reasonably heavy welds aswell. haveing used it with both gas and gasless I threw my roll of gasless wire in the bin.

Cig transmig good machine but will replace it with a kemppi sometime soon just for the lighter weight of an inverter unit ,and as well a kemppi Tig my second kemppi tig they are great, have also had miller welders in the past and they are also good but expensive.
Built quite a number of race and rally cars and roll cages as well as sheet metal fab and would recomend only good quality brands over Chinese junk any day.
Bottom line by the right one first and you wont loose money having to replace junk that wont do the job.
