wheelbased cars be harder to slide with less power?

not realy, for low power cars you usualy need more speed. the longer wheel base will be easyer to handle the speed with..

I had the pleasure of checking out the drifts at Baskerville raceway near Hobart on the weekend.
Seemed to be a pretty healthy and friendly scene down there, 180sx and skylines seemed to be the most popular car but there was a V8 Corolla that was owning everyone...the driver was said to be only 17!

Some of the sponsored cars even had tyres that made coloured smoke...I joked what next lavender scent?...they said that you could get flavoured mehtanol for drag cars nowadays that go by with a whiff of cherry blossom :)

Heaps of fun to watch...some of the better cars were said to be entering the corners at speeds of up to 150 kph!
Dunno about dattos, I would have thought that heavier cars would hold the road better at the speeds these guys were going... except for a 1200 in in the spectators parking...and in true Tassie style I kept seeing him driving all over Hobart for the rest of my visit :)

If someone said that about your vb Id understand
but there are heaps of utes :))

I would have though shorter wheelbase easier to slide scott?
I remember the rusty 240z I had was easy to slide.
I suppose everything is easy to slide except most old english
cars as they roll before you can slide them.

short wheel base = twitchy and not much angle datto 1200 or ae86 harder to drive but lots of fun ( with the right work angle can be right up there )
normal wheel base = moves nicely good angle this is wat i call a s13
long wheel base = slower transitions but bulk angle ( 4 door r32 )
alot of people confuse sliding outta a corner with drifting aka hoping on the gas mid corner and going sideways is very easy
doing a scando entry and balancing the car sideways befor the corner then hitting the apex is alot different

I agree with u Perthute, I'm gonna give it a try in my long r32 4 door anyways, the way I see it is I'll have to start the drift way earlie and use alot more track as when I slide it's like taking up 3 lanes unlike when I did in the datto u could snake in 1 lane :) I hope I'll have my Jim Berry racing clutch by then and get my tein supers setup that I might have a good try if I can work out this 2way diff! Still gotta have a crack for fun if it don't work out I'll track it!

sounds a lot like rally.....

actually i've always thought the two are quite similar, although not many people would acknowledge that

to me its all about how easily a car changes direction more than anything, a short wheel base car will change direction quite easily, meaning sliding from side to side (scando) is quite easy, but maintaining one drift angle is difficult

long wheel base being the opposite, its hard to get it to change direction, so it holds a nice long drift angle, but going from opposite lock to opposite lock neatly is difficult

anyway... drifting is rallying on a circuit...i.e. without the trees and cliffs... i think good drifters should definitely try out rallying! the car control skills and driving methods are similar, just the consequences are different lol
