Is this your mighty ute? The wheels & tyres fill out the guards perfectly.

I ... still maintain that you misunderstood what McDat was saying. The width of the diff he intends to use is entirely related to what backspace the wheels will need to not foul.

My question was about his statement "The diff is set up for 3 3/8 back space". Yes, I wasn't sure what he was saying, but wanted him to clarify. I didn't make any untrue statment did I? I was interested in more specific details, and didn't mean to confuse anyone.

No, I'm not suggesting you made an untrue statement at all. I was trying to help clarify what I believed McDat was saying. Anyway we are all on the same page now. No offence intended.

What I should have said initially was I believe McDat is saying "The diff is set up for WHEELS WITH 3 3/8 back space."

Yes, that is my ute although those were only 205 width tyres from memory.

wrong way mate. +25 with a 5mm spacer makes it effectively +20 offset.

yeah wolki you would of seen my ae lurking around the act last year.
i think tucking wide wheels on the rear of a sedan is harder than a ute cause of this section fowling with tyre.

it also seemed the sedan also had more room between the diff and chassis allowing it to go lower than a ute.
weight factor should be priority & smaller wheels will also allow you to run stiffer suspension on a steet car ,cause u would be running a larger profile tyre.
this car pulls off the big positive offset look even though there aint much datsun in it.
