My first car was a 1990 Holden Nova Hatch and after saving for 3 years to get money to by a car. The first thing and the only thing I could afford at the time was Chrome Exhaust Tip.

Things have changed since then. Now I have brought most parts available. But thats the fun of doing up cars and living happy.

mine were a pair of front brake cylinders for my 4 wheel drummed GB Galant, which I rolled 2 weeks later. luckily there was so much bog in the roof it acted as an integral roll cage and saved the roof from collapsing on me. Needless to say that just fired up my passion for cars even more!!!

I tried to resist this thread..but here goes...I was 13 my 1st car was an extremely rusty Austin A30 ( it cost 10 dollars) and the 1st part I bought for it was a Moon Equipment Surfer Foot accelerator pedal!!! The car snapped in two loaded with all my mates from school, but I stil have the pedal. Don't worry it won't be going in the Dattos,it may one day end up in a Model A rat rod I've been dreaming about.

The tacho for my 68 Anglia must've been one of the first purchases.
It also had an annoying as hell beeping alert for things like oil pressure, temp etc and was called ...wait for it.... the 'tachalert!'

hmmm, and now I laugh my arse off at the pillar mounted white-faced gauges...

'pot, pot, this is kettle, are you black??'

My first car was a '77 120Y sedan and I absolutely loved it. The first thing I bought for it was an LED spoiler for it.
I've gone to a Turbo XR2 Tickford Capri, but always regretted getting rid of the Y. So I decided to relive my childhood and bought another Y; a 1978 that now has a rebuilt A14, 32/36DGV, 5 Speed, customised boot panels, custom interior incl new carpet and door panels to house speakers. As of this weekend it now also has Quartz Halogen headlights and rims from a Stanza SSS fitted... In other words, the Datsun 120Y I always wanted.

Would have been new rear speakers for my Holden Gemini...

I then got a brand new tape deck that even had digital display on it a few months later.

Actually I bought a seatbelt bolt for one of the rear seat belts first, I think.

Being only young I bought my Sony head unit and amp before I bought my car. I also got some carpet mats and aluminium pedals. My dad just didn't understand why I was accumulating parts before the car arrived. Its kind of like parents getting a nursery ready before the baby actually arrives!
