My stock mounts are soft as butter on a hot day! Does anyone do a harder composition mount? With all this new found power, the engine dances around like Oscar DeLahoya in the first round. HELP!

I'd recommend using the fluid filled mounts from later model engines, but this would involve making new brackets. How old are your mounts? I've not heard of people suffering these problems before.

Is it possible that one mount is broken??, Use a block and tackle to try and lift the engine out of the engine bay, with engine mounts still bolted up, and see if under light lifting load, that the engine mounts are broken. Don't overdo this, or you will break your engine mounts.

The 510 mounts are nice, as are the 300C mounts (which are a larger version of the 510 ones).

When replacing mounts, you want to mount them so that the design doesn't allow the engine to "fall out" of the engine bay when you go down hard on the roof in an accident. A flying engine and gearbox can do more damage than our friend Oscar DeL ahoya.

Sometimes, attaching a FWD engine stay can help hold the engine in position, and take some tensional load off the normal engine mounts. Make sure the rubber in the engine stay is good, and rubber mounted on both sides of the stay, otherwise you'll end up with excessive vibrations in the body. Attach one side to the head (maximum leverage) and the other to the strut tower, or a reinforced section of the bodywork.

Chris

i think you can still get urethane / polyurethane engine mounts here in OZ, but i'm way unsure of whether they're still available in the US.

i've never used them, i always go the tie-down route dattodude recommended.

Mazda 626/929. Mid eighties RWD. Big round mount with over-rider. A fair bit stiffer and and almost bolt in. Need to drill engine mount.

I hear that 200SX mounts bolt in if you cut off one bolt off the mounts (no modifications needed to your 1200).

I have used ford cortina mounts in the past on A series engines. Also tried Landrover ones, but they may as well have been solid mounted. Not sure if US got those models, but the moral of the story is to find a friendly part store, have a sample mount with you and match it up against what they've got.

I'm using 210 mounts. Are they the same as the ones you're planning on building ?

We can make 210 mounts if you like, that's not a problem - just let me know what year model you are after - would hate to make the wrong ones.

I'll work out a price for you, including freight - I just need to know where you are ;)

It's the Datsun 210 wagon. 1980 I'm in Burbank, Calif.
I figure they would need to be asoft polyurethane, which would be like a hard rubber I think?
