Yeah this isnt very cool! Yes you should check the product you buy.... But its still not on when you expect that your getting a gold nugget and get a rock instead. Most businesses would refund if this happened... lets hope

I wish we could hear the otherside of the story? Ade?...

Hi guys Ade here, I have read all the replys to Darrens post.
I will now tell my side of the story and include all the details including the ones that Darren chose not to include, even though the last email I recieved from him had the words buyer beware and f uck you (me).
I had bought this gearbox (in pieces) from a mechanic customer of mine as part of a "job lot"of Datsuns,he stated to me that this box was a five speed that he was rebuilding.
I sent it to a specialist repairer ( again a long standing customer of mine).
The cost to put it back together was $350.00.
At about the same time that I had sold a dogleg five speed that had not been rebuilt so when I recieved Darrens call I asked him what the shift pattern was (he could not tell me) I also asked him what colour it was (he could not tell me) I asked him the gearbox type (ie type 60) he could not tell me.
The reason I wanted this info so I knew what gearbox we were talking about.
It ended up that I had told him that it was the rebuilt type 60 box that had been silverfrosted from the repairer, I said to Darren why the hell after so long are you now calling me with a problem.
He said it was only a four speed with a chipped reverse gear, I told him I will call the repairer and get him to check his job card on this box, this took longer than Darren was prepared to wait and sent me an email stating he wants $600 to $650 deposited in his account.
I asked Darren to email me photos of the split box and also the gearbox number but low and behold the box had been re-assembled and was in his words "working quite nicely".
Darren said to give his mechanic a call to substaniate what he had said, I know of no situation where this would be done I track down information to be possibly proved at fault.
To date I have asked for five points to ID the box, Darren could neither supply the colour, gearbox type, shift pattern, photos(except for an underside fitted photo)not split and proving what he has said and no gearbox number to boot.It is not hard to use two screw drivers to check the gear setup
And I pose this question to everyone if you sold an item and the buyer phoned you nearly 12 months later what would you do??
And Darren you stated quite clearly that whatever my mechanic had to say made no difference to him and I take the same tack
I have been an active member and have alsways been willing to help out in any situation that I can and if any member has a problem with me please post it now and any one that I have happily given parts to help with there Datto"s let everyone know.
Also in my email to you I said that if you"d had a problem and if you had of called me in reasonable amount of time I would have refunded your money on the return of the gearbox that was sent(you forgot to mention that in your post)
I also in last few weeks posted a thread not mentioning any names or details on buying second hand goods and 100% support my argument.
And in finishing Darren I would love to tell you to get f ucked (like you did to me) but I will not lower my standards.
Ade

So, Ade, you begin by saying you know which box it is, then cover your tracks later in your post saying "he couldn't tell me which it is".
Did you know if it was 4 or 5 speed yourself?

I find it strange that he didn't send you the info, but it also seems you are confident now you know which box it was - though you didn't conclude for us whether it was a 4 or 5 slotter.

Both sides seem to be leaving information out/being economical with the truth.

Was there ever any need for this to go past PM's and emails? doubt it.

Well after reading Ade's other thread on buying second hand and this thread. I do think that red4go(Darren) should have checked the box as soon as he had got it. Would have saved a hole lot of shiit. Also some thing about the fact that Darren has not given Ade the answers to his questions, makes me wonder if Darren on sold the 5 speed and is try to get some money out of Ade by telling a story.

I'd say tuff luck Darren you should have checked the box earlier.

my questions to Darren was to work out which box he had, as it worked out he had the rebuilt std shift five speed that had been silverfrosted not the dogleg five speed that was unpainted.
I had sold two boxes about the same time and the questions I asked were to asertain which one he bought.
And to add I was in two minds which box to fit to my car a reconditioned overdrive box (the one in question) or a dog leg box that had not been touched(this is a third box not related to this thread).
I would also put forward that Darren has been told he paid to much for this box and that a sunny five speed is only worth about 350 bucks.
And yes it was five speed overdrive box that I crated and delivered to his nominated transport

I would take Ade at his word. He sent me a couple of wee bits I couldn't find anywhere for free! Thats trans tasman too!!!
I can't speak for the bloke who fitted the box, or his employees. But, i have heard horror stories about shade tree mechanics who bend over anyone, and everyone, who isn't one of their mates. A mate of mine got burned bad, (Had his good parts substituted for knackered ones) by a supposedly reputable firm, with a great rep.
Hearing Ade's reasonable requests To identify the box in question, I don't belive that he would ever intentionally s hit on anyone. Plus, 12 months down the track ................

Bloody Hell,

Sorry guys, I was dreaming and made all of this up. If a 100 line arse covering e-mail from ADE doesn't convince you that something is not right here then so be it. I will let Barry Burns from Datsport know that he is a crook as well. Its incredible how people on this site jump to conclusions and judgement without knowing ####.

ADE I have moved on and have no further hard feelings against you and wish you all the best in future Dato adventures.

To Phunkdoktaspok or whoever the #### you are, look up the dictonary for the word dickhead and you will see your pitcure along side. I am done with all of you.

adios

Darren, you started this post & have defamed ADE. Have you considered how hard it might be for him to sell parts in the future. I don't know him personally & don't know the real facts so can't say if he did the wrong thing. The only thing I know is that this is the wrong forum to use to resolve your personal problems. If you need it resolved use the correct methods, not a slanging match.
