with an engine that revs so high and develops the power so high up you'd want a CVT hooked up to it so it can stay in the powerband more.

suppose there's nothing wrong with it, just a lot of engineering to make it work.

Well I have been doing quite a bit of research, and here is the best way that I can think of of doing it. The actual engine and all the goodies will cost around 3 grand from a wrecker, plus whatever other bits you will need. It involves using the standard bike clutch and gearbox.

here is a picture of a hayabusa engine to get your head around it.

Mount the engine as far back in the engine bay as possible. Have it tilt clockwise about 50 degrees more than shown here, as to make it central.

Onto the sprocket, you would weld around half a drive shaft, so that it goes back about 500mm where the gearbox would have been, allowing you to use your old driveshaft.

For reverse, you get a truck starter motor, mounted next to that half drive shaft that is welded onto the sprocket. A belt would the be run in a v shape hollow around the shaft and the motor. All you have to do is put the engine into neutral or press the clutch and push a dash mounted button.

The bike gear change leaver comes out just below the sprocket. What you would do is extend the shaft out (towards us in that photo) before it bends left for your foot on a bike, out to where the normal gear knob would be in the car. From there it bends up, onto a knob in the car. To select first, you push it anticlockwards towards the passenger seat, then bump it clockwise for each shift.

It sounds quite complex, but in reality it is quite simple.

Do you think it is possible?

Cheers, Ian

Think the V Max would be a better option than the Bus. The V Max has heaps more torque and a stronger clutch. BUS/ 172.2 bhp (128.4 kW) @ 10100 rpm
Torque 102.3 lb·ft (138.7 N·m) @ 7600 rpm ...and the V Max/ 147.2 kW (197.4 BHP) (200 PS) @ 9,000 rpm
Maximum torque - 166.8 Nm (123.01 lb/ft) @ 6,500 rpm... And from memory the Yamaha was about 50kg heavier. And dont ride off the ZX12's or 14's

Vmax would be my favorite choice of bike engine due to the torque, capacity and linear power at lower peak rpm. Imagine a V4 badge would look crazy if you graphically put the 4 above & within the V like on some older v8 badges.

I just remembered I prefer another V4 engine with pushrods
not as powerful as a Vmax but supercharger changes that and
traditional gearbox options for rwd a bonus of the motus desing

how simply delicious is the head!
