what a beautifully kept datsun! and clean garage

1800cc in NA id be happy with but with boost it would spool up a t28rr
so much quicker and feed it for a better part of the midrange.
It would suit an otherwise oversized oval ported head that are usually
to big for 1600cc but probably just right for an extra 200cc and boost!
I must get out to the wreckers this week for the 83mm liners.
Ive got word the Pug 205 and 405 liners from the 8v engine can be bored
out another 1mm with plenty of meat left over. The 16v headed engines
have the same liners but with cooling fins that need machining off anyway.

The 405 liner takes an 88mm stroke

g'day mate.

some interesting stuff hear BUT thought i would let you know you don't need to bore out that far to make the power. there is a boosted a15 here in perth making 256hp on 21 psi. and there is more in it. this is only bored out 10 thou or .5mm (i think that is right. someone will correct me if im wrong). no water injection and only has a small intercooler.

this is also not with the biggest turbo in the world. quite responsive on the street. you could go bigger is what im trying to say. also the motor is built to handle 30psi but would probably have to change turbos for that. might run out of effeciency(???)

however, it does have custom pistons, which were not cheap but the best option since they can be made for your specific use.

just thought this might be some useful info

holy poop! thats huge numbers. 256hp at the flywheel! I cant imagine that it is very streetable at that, but regardless thats off the scale.

21psi is pretty crazy pressures. The poor a15 would have to be stressing under that.

I know of the yatala headworx special.
It takes some huge dollars to make an engine preform that well and still make it streetable.
the guys at nelson racing engines in the US are the kings of that, but you pay through the nose for it.

I guess what I mean by streetable is something that isnt crazy stupid on fuel, operates on a rev range that is greater than 500 revs and starts below 4000rpm.
If the car barey runs unless you are wringing its neck, then it hardly streetable in an a15, but by all means please proove me wrong. 250hp at the wheels in a thou! pack some spare undies and jump in!

I would think that once you are getting above ~180hp, you are really starting to streach what it means to be streetable.

I have only ever heard of that yatala head works car bieng used on the dyno as a display piece, and a good one at that. Hats off to who ever did the head design.

The yatalla head worx ca 1200 sedan is a good example of that. Its just pure "we can make 700hp out of a 1800"
It has 200hp at 5 or 6 grand and I think and 700 at 8000. BUGGER DRIVING THAT! i'd be in a hedge before I knew what happened!!

yeah estyre thats the one

ruby that is 256 at the wheels and it is extremely streetable. i could not over-state how streetable it is. not sure what you know about turbos but big cams are not needed, or big heads. it is like driving an atmo... until you put your foot to the floor.

Thanx, I found the grey Datsun in a old shed.... it was going to the wreckers but luckily it was saved! I try to keep my garage as clean as possible and thatīs for a reason. If you are building high rev, high output Datsun engines and are pushing the limits you must assemble them in a clean enviroment! I am lucky to have a friend nearby who own a company that manufactures anything in aluminium and steel, I can do all the machining and welding there for free. So I can mainly use my own garage for assembly and service. I have thought of using a Garret GT28R60 but I think itīs on the bigger side for my needs!? Thanx for the pics and info about the Peugeot cylinder liners.....
